“The Cheri Mason wants to help military and veteran families who attend ONU. Cheri was a dependent recipient of VA benefits resulting from her father's suicide. She also lost her Army Reservist brother to suicide one month before arriving at ONU in the fall of her freshman term. As an ONU graduate and a devoted military family member, her desire is for military spouses and dependents to experience the transformational education available at ONU. She wishes to ease the financial burden for students from military families by funding a scholarship to assist with an ONU education.” Please specify your gift is for Lincoln’s Promise: A Scholarship for Military Families.

VETERAN'S ISSUES

To understand the significance of proposed legislative changes currently under consideration by the House Veterans Affairs Committee, one must peel back the layers of bureaucracy and legalese to the very heart of the matter — the veterans themselves. Veterans’ benefits and services are not merely a set of statutes crafted within the hallowed halls of legislative buildings but a lifeline, a covenant of support and gratitude to those who have pledged their lives to the service of our nation. As laws are crafted and reformed, the cardinal question we must ask is not just how these legal machinations shape policies but how they impact the lives of veterans and their families.
